Matjiesfontein Wedding

This weekend we headed to what must surely be, one of the hottest places on earth, Matjiesfontein to see our lovely friends Dawid & Lizanne get married. It was definitely the best wedding I've ever been to with an amazing crowd of guests, beautiful venue, great food, chilled vibe, phenomenal music - in the shape of Mr Cat & The Jackal - and a gorgeous and gracious bride & groom. We spent the entire night dancing under the stars and I don't remember even sitting down once. Thank you Dawid and Liz for inviting us to share this special day with the two of you. Liz, I've never seen you look more beautiful. You were a fairy.

As they say... all's well that ends well.

Hi, My Life? What Happened To You?

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. Basically, I've been living like a gypsy out of a bag at my folks in Joburg for the past 3 weeks. Working here and there doing various things like shoots for Jip, make-up jobs and selling craft alcohol. I spent a Saturday selling Darling Brew at Neighbourgoods and then the rest of the weekend selling Jorgensen's Distillery's amazing craft spirits at Food Wine Design.

I've given up eating for the most part, but I have gained a very strong love for oysters, which is new. I've also been watching a lot of Toddlers & Tiaras, Extreme Couponing and I recently discovered Big Fat Gypsy Weddings (which is now my favourite show and if I can just get my hands on a flat screen TV and the full season on a hard drive I'd like to have it playing in my home at all times, day and night).

So yes, I am an 80 year old single woman. It's the saddest thing you'll ever see. Or, it's very interesting and someone should make a detailed reality show about me.

On the bright side, tonight I head to the launch of Rolling Stone SA and hope to get mildly intoxicated. I have stopped crying in public and have learned to walk (for brief periods) in my very high Aldo wedges.

I finally head back to Cape Town tomorrow to sort out my life. Moving out of my comfortable little Constantia home into my family's place in Hout Bay for a while, before moving to town in the new year. I am excited about living in town, as I get to reinvent myself from a Constantia Soccer-Mom-In-The-Making to a hard core Town Kid. Need to update wardrobe (expensive).

In between that, I come back to Joburg and set off on a family holiday to Mozambique. I expect there will be a lot my dad craving cigarettes but trying to remain chirpy, me loving/hating having no cellphone, mild to violent day drinking and being too hot. Just the way I like it.

My whole world has turned itself upside down in the past 3 weeks and while being upside down is not the most comfortable way to go through life, the rush of blood to the head is also kind of exciting and makes you forget that fear is making your feet go numb.

I'm contemplating turning this blog into a) The single female humans trials of living on Earth (name needs some refining, or it doesn't) b) a blog about funny cat pictures and poems detailing a lonely life(been done) c) The Detailed Life Of A 23-year-old Drifter d) pretty much the same it has always been. These are my major life decisions right now.

So, expect some exciting thing on these pages. Or don't. I can't decide.
