I know what I'm about to say may come as a shock to most of you, but try not to swallow your tongue...ready? Ok...Nash...doesn't...eat...cake! I know! The man doesn't know what he's saying!Be that as it may, Nash does not allow a bite of cake nor a crumb of cupcake past his lips. Which means cheesecake every birthday. But this year I wanted to do something a little different, along with the best cheesecake Cape Town has to offer (from Puka in Tamboerskloof).
Nash has a growing obsession with hamburgers, which got me thinking...cake...burger...BURGER CAKE! Move over Epic Mealtimes and Paula Dean, I am the Burger Cake Queen.
Ingredients
For the bun:
1 custom made #BurgerCake bun from Jason Bakery
For the patty:
1 kg beef mince
500g pork mince
2 table spoons honey
2 table spoons nomu spicy peri-peri rub
2 table spoons nomu bbq rub
1 cup cooked quinoa
salt pepper
1 Philadelphia cream cheese
1 onion, chopped and fried in balsamic vinegar
2 packs streaky bacon
Slice your bun in half and start layering. Lettuce, avo, patty, bacon, onion, cheese, patty, bacon, onion, cream cheese, avo, mayo, Pronto Mama. Now slice the Burger Cake like you would any cake and serve with a side of chips and hot sauce.
