My Summer Transformation: Week 2

Last week I introduced you to the 14 Week Summer Transformation that Fran and I are embarking on. Week 1 has come and gone, which leaves us with just 13 weeks to become bikini comfortable (!!!). Over the past week I've really just been getting to know my new lifestyle. I've been finding my groove, figuring out what does and doesn't work for me and trying to carry on with my actual life in between.

As you know, I work a 9-5 job. Some days I leave the office rearing to go, itching to get into the pool and swim out the day's frustrations. Other days I want nothing more than to get home, eat a bowl of cream cheese and get into a hot bath. The challenge has been in finding a balance. The same goes for my social life. I don't want to write off going out for the next 13 weeks, but at the same time I see how important it is to have a routine, to eat clean and to get enough sleep.

So far, I am really enjoying the challenge. I've got my routine down to swimming 3 times a week- whether that means mornings or evenings- and sometimes filling the gaps with walks on the prom. In terms of diet, I've been trying to live by the following as much as I can:
- No refined sugars
- No wheat
- No processed foods (tinned foods, pastas, breads, foods with preservatives etc.)
- Lots of fresh green veggies
- Lots of raw food
- Lots of lean protein

I wrote here about how I've been reading up on raw eating and how I'd like to incorporate some raw food principles into my diet. The warmer weather has been really good for this, so I've been making lots of juices and smoothies and have been pleasantly surprised by the results.

When I first started replacing meals with juices/smoothies I thought I'd end up being really hungry most of the time. But I'm not. I find that the juice really fills me up and keeps me full for a good few hours. I feel like I have a lot more energy, my belly feels flatter and my all-round feelings of wellbeing have improved. I try to use as much green stuff as I can as green veggies have the most vitamins and minerals and I've found that you can stick spinach in pretty much anything and not even taste it.

Here is a table of my diet for last week:

Obviously it's hard to stick to clean eating all the time. Last week I had a blogger challenge with Cadbury Bubbly which meant that I ate two slabs of chocolate on Thursday. Sunday we had a family lunch and I ate some chips and cake and chocolate mousse. But I didn't hate myself and I don't think it's ruined my challenge. I just think that it's life. So I just try to fill the rest of my days with healthy, clean foods that keep me full and are packed with vitamins.

I received this awesome gift from Poise last week.

Mama Mio is one of my favourite skincare brands and I truly believe in their products. Last summer I used their Bootcamp for Butts kits and man oh man was I impressed. I've decided to save these handy little travel sized treats for my Thailand trip. Oh, rumour has it Poise is launching a Mama Mio competition on their Facebook page today...
