RTD 2012, Last Minute Fashion Notes

I couldn't be more excited for this weekend even if there was a little bit of Ryan Gosling thrown in! It's a weekend of Rocking The Daisies and Season of Sauvignon festivities! We're heading through to RTD after work today, but tomorrow morning we're driving through to Durbanville for their Season Of Sauvignon wine festival. I know, you wish you had thought of that too!

Rocking The Daisies 2012 is officially SOLD OUT! I obviously left packing to the very last minute, throwing whatever was clean into a bag at 7am this morning. Of course, packing for anything in Cape Town is an absolute nightmare with the promise of summer/winter/rainy weather at any given time over the next 48hours. Allow me to remind you that RTD is as much a fashion show as it is a music festival so if you have yet to pack, keep these key RTD trends in mind:

- Skin. Show as much of it as you can. If you have denim short-shorts at home, cut them shorter. In
fact, cut all your clothes. T-shirts are out. Crop tops are in.
- Long hair. Girls, long hair is everything here. If you've got it, flaunt it. And by "flaunt it", I mean
"wear it down, with a slight natural wave (never ever allow it to look like a hairdryer may have seen
your hair in the past 60 hours) at all times. Except when it's up in a messy top bun.
- Leggings. As pants. Yes that's right. Wear your leggings with inappropriately short tops, or over-
  sized grey sweatshirts.
- Hunter Boots. Come rain or shine, you have to wear these boots. They are probably the one item
that will make or break your RTD wardrobe.
- A water bottle. This is as much a survival item as it is a fashion item. You'll need it to stay hydrated
during all your electro tent dancing. But it will also serve as a valuable fashion accessory.
- Headbands. Not to keep your hair off your face, obviously.
- A bikini. Cause you never know.
- Crocheted items. Of all sorts. Crop tops, skirts, bikinis! If you don't own any, use any of your
granny's crocheted table cloths as a "shawl". Instafashion!
